Marie moved to Toronto from New Carlow to work for my Aunt Eleanor Taylor, and my father Gilbert Taylor in the Taylor Jewelry Store on Bloor Street. Marie met Gerald there. Marie also looked after my sister June and I on the Taylor farm in Oakville. Marie was our sitter, mentor, and when I didn't mind she was the enforcer more than once. When I decided not to go to school one day, she had a willow switch that made things clear who was in charge. My sister, June and I loved Marie and we also grew up with Marie's brothers Lyle and Ellis, and her sister Claudia.
